ABOUT OUR DIRECTOR



Angela Isom is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervisory designation (LPCC-S) and over 15 years of experience providing compassionate, results-driven counseling and case support to diverse populations across Ohio. As Director of the Henry Johnson Center for over 2 decades, Angela has led counseling and training services for underserved families, helping thousands overcome barriers to education, mental wellness, and stability. Angela specializes in providing mental health counseling strategies for individuals navigating complex life challenges. She is especially passionate about supporting low-income and high-need populations, empowering them through practical tools, advocacy, and access to essential services. With dual Master’s degrees and a Doctorate degree, Angela’s clinical work is grounded in academic excellence and real-world impact. She previously served as a Senior Professor at Tiffin University and an Administrator at Cuyahoga Community College, where she developed engaging, culturally responsive curricula. Her additional training has including Harvard University and Case Western Reserve University. Angela is a respected speaker, educator, and mental health advocate committed to making quality care accessible—whether in-person or through remote platforms.

Olivia Hill



Project Coordinator/Asst to the Director



Ms. Olivia Hill is a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) and holds a Bachelor of Integrative Studies in Biology, Mathematics, and Chemistry from Kent State University. Her experience as a former secretary and current member of the KSU chapter of the National Society for Leadership and Success sparked her interest in coaching and mentoring. She brings a diverse professional background, with experience in healthcare, scientific research, theater production, and market research. Ms. Hill joined our team in 2025 and shares our passion for empowering students as they work toward their goals.​



Marguerita Ruffin



Instructor



Professor Ruffin is a motivated professional with 20 years of Medical Billing and Coding experience. She is the President of the Cleveland, Ohio chapter of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and has worked with the Henry Johnson Center since 2023. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, a Master of Health Information Management, and is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) from the AAPC. Her experience in auditing, supervising and coaching/mentoring Medical Billing and Coding specialists has been invaluable to educating and supporting our students in their path to achieving their goals.



Quantez Spears



Instructor



Mr. Quantez Spears has been working in healthcare for several years. He started as an STNA working for different nursing homes. After being hired by the Cleveland Clinic, he identified many opportunities in healthcare and wanted to explore different fields. He attended Lakeland Community College where he earned EKG Technician and Phlebotomy Technician certifications and his Associates of Arts & Sciences degrees. He has worked as a Mobile Phlebotomist at the Cleveland Clinic and now works at Lake Health as a Phlebotomist and Laboratory Operations Assistant.



Judith Jones



Instructor



Mrs. Judith Jones is a Certified Phlebotomist and a Certified Medical Biller & Coder. She is also the Director of the Phlebotomy program at a technical college. She has nearly 3 decades of Phlebotomy experience. She holds additional certifications as a CPR instructor and a Medical Assistant.

Jeanine Jones



President



Ms. Jeanine has over 15 years of experience in administration, managing various organizations in fields such as theater, social services, and healthcare. Previously, she served as the Program Director for REM and has worked in the healthcare sector for over 30 years. Additionally, she taught healthcare courses for seven years at Brown Mackie College and Bryant Stratton College, where she instructed both associate and bachelor students. She holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Phoenix. She is actively involved in multiple organizations, including the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) and the African American Women’s Empowerment (AAWE), which she founded in 2014. She is passionate about mentoring youth and adults. She believes her purpose in life is to help others, especially those who cannot speak for themselves.




Melvin White



Vice President



Melvin White is a seasoned educator, author, and community builder with over 40 years of experience in public service, early childhood education, and family engagement. He is the founder of Frat Dads LLC, a nationally recognized initiative supporting fatherhood, family empowerment, and culturally responsive training. He also leads Brother to Brother (B2B) Conversation, a nonprofit that creates safe spaces for Black men to heal, grow, and build community through barbershop-based dialogue. Melvin currently serves as a Family Support Specialist with Say Yes Cleveland, supporting students and families across Cleveland Metropolitan School District. His work bridges leadership, fatherhood, and education, ensuring equity and connection remain central to the Center’s mission. He brings a visionary, community-rooted perspective to the Henry Johnson Center board.
